I saw Radiohead in London yesterday. Not much to say other than: it was awesome. They rule. Jonny Greenwood is sick.
Today I spent half the day in Arley again. This time we were doing slightly more serious things. Well Aaron and Chez were… I was swimming (click here for photos of me enjoying myself).
I spent a lot of time cleaning up a website I just made for someone too. It’ll be up tomorrow I hope.
I’m a little stressed ‘cos I fly to Egypt tomorrow evening for nearly 3 weeks of holiday action. I can’t wait it’s gonna be ace. I really don’t think I can imagine how amazing it’s will be (let alone how hot it will be).
“The servers are getting hammered with about 14 Trillion Terrabytes a second. But I guess that’s the price you pay for doing some kind of distributed, fancy-pants thing.”—Iain Tait on the lastest thing that Poke did for orange…
On friday I turned 21, which was nice. So far 21 is good, it feels like a lot has changed but that’s ‘cos of the next thing…
The next thing is friday was also the day I found out I got a 2:2 in my Physics BSc from UCL. This has implications. My original plan was that I would be at uni for another doing a masters. But this isn’t happening now. They said no. Which to be honest… is a good thing. It’s what I needed. The masters would have been good, great even, but it would just be a year of procrastination leading me to the inevitable. That being, right now, I do not want to work in Physics and one more year almost definitely wouldn’t have changed that. So that’s that and as my uncle put it I’m an unemployed graduate. Which is new, exciting and very scary. I really don’t know what’s next as this was, until friday, a situation I didn’t have to face for a year.
Finally today was great. We went to Arley, one of the greatest places on earth. It’s quintessential England. It’s a tiny village on the River Severn. A few of us chilled on the bank and a few of us went for a swim, it was amazing.
My girlfriend found it funny to login to my IMDb account the other night and rate films. I just saw the list and I did laugh. Some of them are blindingly obvious, like giving Spice World a 10. But there are others where she has been more cunning and rated very mediocre films that I would never bother with, like giving The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift an 8. This makes me look lame but thats exactly why she’s done it… I’m gonna leave it ‘cos lets be honest… who reads my IMDb Movie Ratings… (apart from Ben Reynolds of course)
“…Even your nationality sets you apart. The great majority of you belong to the world’s only remaining superpower. The way you vote, the way you live, the way you protest, the pressure you bring to bear on your government, has an impact way beyond your borders. That is your privilege, and your burden.”—J. K. Rowling at the Harvard Commencement.
